Mark

Hi, I'm Mark Abermoske.

I'm a 27-year-old graduate student working towards a Master’s degree in Computer Science at Northern Illinois University. My education is focused on application development and software design, an obvious choice given my love of code manipulation and solving puzzles. My occupational goal is to work in software development or engineering.

I received my Bachelor's degree in Political Science at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign in 2009. After realizing a political career was not for me, I decided to focus on my lifelong hobby of tinkering with all things tech-related. I’ve always had a strong interest in computers, and I'm excited to be learning and working in a field I’m passionate about.

I currently live in Madison, Wisconsin, a technologically progressive city where I enjoy a multitude of computer-related activities available to fanatical development geeks. Some of my favorite activities include participating in hackathons, as well as attending talks and lectures offered by the University of Wisconsin – Madison. I am also a member of 100state, a space for coworking, collaboration, and entrepreneurship. You can read more about Madison’s coworking culture here.

I am actively looking for a full-time position, starting in January of 2015, preferably working as a Software Engineer, Web Developer, or Business Analyst.

Thanks for visiting,

Mark

PROGRAMMING

While working on my Computer Science degree I have gained extensive experience with C++, including advanced data structures and algorithm analysis. I have also completed database coursework, working primarily with SQL. In previous work experience I have used Java, C#, and to a lesser extent JavaScript, HTML, CSS, and PHP. I am also very familiar with Systems Design and Analysis, which includes knowledge of requirements gathering, UML, and ER Diagrams. I competed in the 2013 Master the Mainframe contest where I gained some practical experience with JCL, Enterprise COBOL, and DB2. Lately, I have been very interested in Node.js, and some of the many frameworks that have been popping up in response to it.
